I (and all the living beings at Leah Lake) will be in communion for the Imbolc Sweat Lodge Ceremony, as the seeds prepare to turn over underground, to bring new life and wonder to our living ancestral world. Remembering the power of the seed, whose creative force can break through sheer cement, I am honored to be able to spend this Imbolc time on the Earth, belly down, in the womb.

One of my favorite senses is feeling the seeds that fell or were scattered by the winds and birds, laying quietly all winter, starting to whisper and shift toward their own beginnings, to align themselves in the proper position for sending their roots downward and their life force upward.

We can tap into this shift, knowing our own preparation has begun - from inward self-reflections of winter toward movement and energy that will come with spring. Getting through these last stretches of winter can bring grayness and cabin fever, but feeling these first movements beneath the ground can shift our energy toward the awakening, the color, and the joys of spring and new potentiality.
